Diseases that can arise for short periods of sleeping

Sleep

Sleeping not only serves as a break from our busy day-to-day life but also has many benefits for our physical and mental health. Just as breathing and eating are required by the body regularly, sleep is also essential for the body and almost everyone knows that eight hours of sleep is necessary for a good night's sleep.

This is the reason why according to experts; sleep is one of the most important things for a human being. We always hear or see the advice of doctors that a person should get good sleep to avoid many diseases.

Doctors also say that sleep is the food of the human body, and it is a natural way to maintain and develop the mental health of a person.

Why do we need sleep?

Sleep is important for the production of certain hormones such as growth hormone. Also, your body repairs damaged cells while you sleep. Sleep also enables us to restore, reset, and better balance the physiological processes within our bodies.

In a 2013 study conducted by researchers at the University of Rochester in New York, they said that the toxic substances accumulated in our brains during waking hours are removed from the brain during sleep.

Medical research shows that a person who does not get adequate sleep at night or throughout the day is at risk of developing mental disorders.

The doctor explains that people who do not get enough sleep have many health risks. The doctor divided the lack of sleep into two types, one caused by diseases and the other by the soul voluntarily.

"This division is based on how often a person wakes up from sleep or whether their sleep is disturbed," says the doctor. This sleep disorder could be one or two nights per week. Otherwise, this problem is permanent.

The work that our body does while we sleep

Sleep is a factor that enables the body to perform important functions related to human existence.

The doctor said sleep does the body's natural repair while sleeping at night.

Effects of sleep on the human body are:

·         Removes impurities from the body

·         Helps in the digestion of nutrients in food

·         Production of hormones e.g. growth hormone

·         Insomnia and mental disorders

Lack of sleep in a person can lead to mental disorders when a person is seen talking to others or standing alone and shouting. Doctors say, when you get less sleep, you become more anxious, stressed, and irritable. When the situation continues, the person becomes constipated.

The doctor further explains that if the person does not sleep, two major psychological situations arise.

In one, he can be seen saying, “I will be killed. They are following me; they are being hunted.”

Sometimes a person says, “I hear voices, they are talking to me.” Sometimes their words and thoughts get confused.

If a person notices such changes in behavior, put them to bed so they can rest or get medical help, the doctor advises.

How does modern life affect our sleep?

A study led by Harvard Medical School professor Charles Zeissler found that people who read e-books before going to bed took longer to fall asleep, which led to a decrease in melatonin (a hormone that regulates the body's internal clock) level.

According to research, the average duration and quality of sleep have decreased over the past 50 years.

One in eight people leaves their mobile phone on in the bedroom at night, increasing the risk of disturbing our sleep. Many studies have stated that there is evidence that lack of sleep is linked to obesity, diabetes, depression, and reduced life expectancy

Some, such as Professor James Horne, a sleep researcher at Loughborough University, think such things are “scary”. Researchers and medical experts agree that getting enough sleep leads to a healthy and productive lifestyle.
